Our Specialities
What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
& Is It Right for You?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a vital component of perinatal care and support for expectant and postpartum mothers. MLD is a gentle and precise therapeutic technique aimed at facilitating the natural flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. By employing rhythmic movements that follow the body's lymphatic Pathways, MLD helps to alleviate swelling, reduce discomfort, and promote overall well-being during this transformative phase of life.
MLD plays a crucial role in addressing common challenges such as prenatal and postpartum swelling, discomfort associated with C-section recovery, and breastfeeding issues. By encouraging the movement of lymph towards lymph nodes, MLD aids in the efficient removal of excess fluids and toxins from tissues, supporting the body's natural recuperation processes. Whether it's providing relief from swollen ankles during pregnancy or assisting with scar reduction post-C-section, MLD offers a safe and effective means of enhancing comfort and promoting optimal recovery for mothers navigating the joys and challenges of childbirth.
Meet Our Founder, Corinne…
From a young age, my passion for healthcare was ignited, and at 16, I discovered my calling in occupational therapy during an internship at a local school. This journey led me through numerous internships and academic pursuits, culminating in the completion of my B.S./M.S. from Towson University in 2010. For over a decade, I dedicated myself to various healthcare settings, including skilled nursing, homecare, and serving at Long Island's sole certified brain injury unit. However, a pivotal moment arose with a company transition coinciding with the onset of the global pandemic, prompting a career redirection.
Lymphedema treatment had always resonated with me, influenced by my mother's battles as a breast cancer survivor. In late 2020, I seized the opportunity to undergo training with the esteemed Norton School of Lymphatic Studies, earning my certification as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). This comprehensive program immersed me in the intricacies of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), the gold standard in lymphedema treatment, including the mastery of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), particularly the Vodder technique. Since completing my training, I've contributed my skills at a bustling lymphedema clinic on Long Island.
In 2023, I embarked on another pivotal career enhancement, becoming one of the nation's inaugural Certified Cosmetic Surgery Therapists through the Norton School. Under the guidance of the esteemed Nicole Psomas, I acquired expertise in The Psomas Method, a holistic protocol integrating manual lymphatic drainage for cosmetic surgery procedures. However, my deepest connection lies with perinatal women. Inspired by my own experiences during pregnancy and childbirth, I've dedicated myself to supporting expecting and postpartum mothers, blending my knowledge in occupational therapy and lymphatic drainage. Establishing a business in maternal occupational therapy fulfills a lifelong dream, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to create a recuperation space and collaborate with you on your wellness journey.
